RUMOR: Cassie joining Danity Kane??

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

So about a month ago when Diddy dismantled (for the most part) his Making the Band 3 group Danity Kane, rumors began the very next morning about what exactly might be happening to the remaining members. While some said that they would continue on as Danity Kane, several reports came out saying that they could stay signed to Bad Boy and put out records as solo acts. But then all of the sudden, rumors began circulating that Danity Kane would remain together, but they would get a new member and a new leader.

In the days after the break up, the blogosphere started reporting that R&B singer Cassie would be joining the troubled group as the new frontwoman. However last month when this broke, it was quickly shut down when MTV reached out to an Atlantic Records rep who said the following:

"Cassie is not joining DK, Cassie is set to release her second solo album in spring of '09."

Simple, right? Case closed. Well....not so fast. We're hearing now that since the rumor broke, Puff has started to put on his thinking cap and is starting to believe it might make some sense. We've heard from our Bad Boy snitches that Cassie has been seen in the Bad Boy house studio with the remaining Danity Kane members for the last several weeks. Now while our source could not confirm whether or not they were actually recording together, there definitely seems to be some cohesion between the two Bad Boy signees.

And to be honest, this might be good for Cassie. She doesn't seem entirely comfortable as a solo artist and you just need to watch her BET 106 & Park performance to know that. Cassie seems to do better when she has other artists to feed off of and isn't the best in pulling it out of herself. And why is Puff still doing these Making the Band shows? He doesn't seem to have the best success with them. If you remember, in Making the Band 2, he had similar problems with the group Da Band which he also eventually dismantled. Now with Danity Kane being broken apart, it makes us wonder what the fate of Day 26 will be. It also makes it pretty clear that Puff really isn't trying to find superstars to sell records, he is just after those ratings. Let's keep it real.

Do you think Cassie would be a good addition to Danity Kane? Or should she stay solo?
