Rick Ross debuts number 1 this week selling 158k copies of, “Deeper Than Rap.” His previous albums debuted at 187k(06) and 198k(08). So with the first week sales in, who won the battle, Rick Ross or 50 Cent? Did the beef hurt of help Rick Ross’ sales? Also how can some people call 158k a flop when Jadakiss sold 135k?
Also Asher Roth sold 65k with his debut album, “Asleep in the Bread Aisle.”

“When I dropped that … (I thought) ‘You guys are always going off about how much money you have. Do you realize what’s going on in this world right now?’ All these black rappers ? African rappers ? talking about how much money they have. ‘Do you realize what’s going on in Africa right now?’” Roth says.
“It’s just like, ‘You guys are disgusting. Talking about billions and billions of dollars you have. And spending it frivolously, when you know, the Motherland is suffering beyond belief right now.’”

Asher Roth got into some trouble earlier this week for making a joke about, “Nappy Headed Hoes,” on twitter while at Rutgers. He at first apologized and then deleted the joke, apology and said his account was hacked. I know Asher isn’t racist but he has to be careful with the jokes he makes in public.
I also don’t like that he mentions, “Black Rappers,” when it should just be rappers period

Cot Damn, hopefully The Clipse stay clear of any problems with the law. The Clipse frequent talk of drugs in music will probably be brought up in court.

A lawsuit filed last year against Lil Wayne accuses him of copyright infringement, saying he failed to secure permission to sample folk singer Karma-Ann Swanepoel’s song “Once” on his track “I Feel Like Dying.” A lawsuit filed last week by the rapper’s lawyers says Rebel Rock Productions Inc., of Coconut Creek, Fla., produced “I Feel Like Dying” and was responsible for obtaining any necessary licensing agreements.

Right now as we speak, I got two of my best friends that’s on the run from two separate cocaine conspiracy indictments,” Mr. Ross said. “This is a reality that I can’t glorify. The relationship I have with these people is deeper than rap. “When I say something like ‘deeper than rap,’ that’s possibly death involved. That’s possibly prison time involved.”
Asked how he’d explain to his children the more insidious of the ex-girlfriend videos 50 Cent has disseminated, Mr. Ross was philosophical: “I’d say she was an actress for a day. I love actresses.” In other words, an acknowledgment that sometimes it’s acceptable to just be playing a role.

“I mean, I’m a fan of Eminem,” he said. “I’m a fan first and foremost. But after defeating Curly, my confidence is at an all-time high. Maybe before I wouldn’t have challenged him, but I’m contemplating it now. The game is commending me for my victory. That’s all I wanted to do was … punish the opposition. I think I’ve done a great job and I’m gonna continue to do that.”
