It’s a Good Time to Be Will Smith

2008 was a very good year to be Will Smith. The “Seven Pounds” actor was voted the star that generated the most moolah at the box office in ‘08 with his mega-hit Hancock, grossing $228 and “Seven Pounds” which is still in theaters. The annual survey held by Quigley Publishing Co. has chosen only TWO black actors to the top of its poll since it’s inception in 1932!! The first black actor was the legendary Sidney Poitier chosen in 1968 – yes, that’s a 40 year difference.

That’s a major fete when you can beat out the much hyped, over-hyped even Batman enterprise “The Dark Knight” and an “Indiana Jones” franchise with a black super hero concept! This doesn’t even include the movies his son Jayden, daughter Willow or wife Jada was in: It’s a good time to be even a cousin of the Smith’s!
